A perfect day for a FALL WEDDING. Dana and Matt were dream clients who trusted us to create florals for a truly memorable day. We are so proud of how it turned out.

REAL WEDDING: EMILY & MATTHEW

When my friend Emily reached out to me about her wedding, I knew I was signing up for something magical. Emily is the epitome class and grace. It was nothing short of an honor to be a part of her special day. Together we created a design featuring: a delicate palette, classic shapes and lush blooms. The entire affair had an ease to it that felt intimate and romantic. You would never know there were almost 200 guests in attendance.  With stunning photography from Mikkel Paige, this wedding is sure to deliver the visual goods. Enjoy!

Real Wedding: Eva & Brian

So often my clients ask me, "What can I do to make MY wedding stand out?" My answer is the same every time, "Fill your wedding with all the love that makes your relationship special and your guests will have an amazing time." This is exactly what Eva and Brian did. They kept the focus of their wedding tightly zoomed in on their incredible connection and a loving family. Eva and Brian's wedding screams BROOKLYN!!! Yet, it still feels understated, charming and most of all...memorable!

BEST OF 2014: Josh and Jimmy Wed!

As I look back on 2014, I find myself flooded with a sense of endless gratitude and love. This love is directed like a laser beam towards my husband and my family and friends. Without them, the joy and pride I have experienced this year with FULL APERTURE would be meaningless. I celebrate for them and with them.

But enough about me…

One the biggest surprises and highlights of 2014 was when my best friend Josh married his long time beau and fiancé, Jimmy.

Under traditional circumstances the marriage of two people in love comes as no huge surprise. However, this wedding was unique. I say this because all of the guests, including me, had NO CLUE it was a wedding!

SURPRISE!!

I, like the rest of the attendees, thought it was an engagement party. At least that is what it said on the invitation. Boy-oh-boy was I fooled. If you have never been to a surprise, secret wedding before, I am here to tell you, strap in, because it is an emotional rollercoaster of epic proportion! For this reason it was one of the most exciting, beautiful and special weddings I have ever worked on and attended.

The details:

Josh and Jimmy had to be super slick so they employed the help of expert planner and all around genius Brooke Stone of GYST PLEASE. With charming florals from yours truly, brilliant photography by DIRTY SUGAR PHOTOGRAPHY, scrumptious bites by The Cleaver Co. and a dessert station for the gods from BAKED, this wedding had all the ingredients of a perfect event.

*On a side note, I would like to say that had I known that this was going to be the wedding of my best friend and not an engagement party I would have ignored their request for something understated and chic and instead would have decked the joint out with flowers. I’m talking LUSH! Hmm… maybe that is why they didn’t tell me…

Here are a couple of shots from the big day. Enjoy!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Real Wedding: Nikka & Dan

We love Nikka & Dan. They are so much fun! Somehow between the laughs we found time to create a design that is as eletrifying as they are.  The design celebrates organic shapes, saturated pigments, and unique textures. Set in Gawanus, Brooklyn, this wedding has everything: Fashion, Flowers, Friends and most importantly, Fried Chicken! Vividly captured by Laurie Marie Duncan Photography, you can practically feel the love radiating off the screen. With an abundance of joy we helped Nikki and Dan create an unforgettable event almost as beautiful as the love they share.

Real Wedding: Meagan & Matthew

This couple could not have been more adorable. With Matthew's easy going nature and Meagan's million dollar smile, working with this young couple was a dream come true. Lush, elegant and down right gorgeous - their color palette of soft and pale hues of lavender, blue, yellow, peach and white was the perfect selection for a beautiful summer day.

New York Weddings

If you haven't heard yet, we are in the current issue of New York Magazine's special Weddings Issue. Twice a year this publication chooses New York City's most talented industry professionals to contribute their work for an opportunity to be featured in the magazine.

Now here's the deal. I have seen "The Devil Wears Prada."  I have worn my share of faux fur coats and knock-off Louis Vuitton bags. This obviously gives me the right to pretend to think that I know how magazine's work. I never once expected my work to reach actual publication. I always said, in my best, Anne Hathaway voice, "I'm just honored to be nominated..." Blink, Blink. But seriously. I never could have dreamed that we would be featured - not once, but three times. Not only do I feel honored, I am also deeply inspired by the other artists and vendors featured in the publication. Especially my good friends and frequent collaborators  - Stacy and Orlando at Butterfly Bakeshop and fellow flower friends - Lisa Pryzstup (James's Daughter Flowers) and Doan Ly (Sprout Home) . I am so happy to share the space and universe with you incredible artists.

As I mentioned, we are in the Flowers Feature. But we also worked with the fashion department to create bouquets for the Gowns Feature. Here is a sneak Peak at those two stories. But if you want the whole enchilada you're going have to go get the magazine. Oh and good luck with that, Because I have purchased every copy in a 15 block radius. Happy Thursday!
